If you are looking for a warm, beautiful vacation destination, Long Beach, California might just be perfect for you. This city is in southern California along the Pacific Coast. It is part of the Los Angeles and Santa Ana metropolitan area and it has been called the "Aquatic Capital of the World" because it is the dominant maritime center of the nation. The port in the area is the second busiest port in the world and one of the largest shipping ports. The city is only 20 miles south of Los Angeles and just over 100 miles from San Diego. It is on the edge of many other gateway cities to the west and north of the area. If you want to stay in the region, you should look into the various hotels Long Beach has to offer.

Long Beach is like a giant playground in the heart of the southern portion of California. You can have every experience imaginable from deep-sea adventures to historic explorations. In addition, if you are willing to drive an hour, you can also reach Hollywood, Disneyland and every other major attraction in southern California.

The Aquarium of the Pacific is one of the most popular attractions in the city. This aquarium allows visitors to journey through the world's largest ocean and meet more than 11,000 animals. You can look through sunny and cold waters and compare the different ecosystems as you enjoy the sea creatures and exotic plants that live beneath the ocean waters.

The Queen Mary is a legendary ship that allows visitors to take tours of its historic rooms. This ocean liner was once a World War II troopship and the restored areas look just as they did during its final voyage in 1967. If you cannot get enough of the ship's grandeur and elegance, you can have a meal aboard or even stay overnight.

The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden takes some of the beauty of the area and highlights it in a unique way. The garden was dedicated in 1981 and the 1.3-acre plot is an authentic Japanese garden that takes visitors out of the state of California and places them in Japan instead. The international and cultural education opportunities in the garden are endless as well.

If you want to travel to Los Angeles, just 20 miles away, you will not want to miss the Getty Center. This center has the Getty collection of western art starting with the Middle Ages and spanning through today. The dramatic architecture of the building highlights the pieces even further and the tranquil gardens outside offer breathtaking views.

Many visitors enjoy staying in Long Beach and then visiting nearby Anaheim in order to enjoy Disneyland while they are in the area. This park is known as the place where dreams come true. Over the years it has added new attractions and joined them together with the classic favorites. There are several different themed lands within the park and families can spend an entire day in each land. You can spend a few hours in Disneyland, but unless you have days to explore, there is no way you will see it all.

Six Flags Magic Mountain is also located in a nearby city. This attraction has massive roller coasters, awe-inspiring adventure rides and family friendly shows and attractions. The park is often less busy than Disneyland, but it has plenty of fun of its own. With tame rides for the younger children and water rides for the hot summer days, Six Flags has something for everyone in the family. It even has restaurants, food courts, shops and anything else you might want to enjoy a fun day in the sun of southern California.

As you plan your relaxing getaway to southern California, you will want to choose between the hotels Long Beach has available for visitors. You can find a little of everything in the area hotels. There are accommodations with quality rooms, affordable rates and even garden-like settings. There are also luxurious accommodations with spa services, business centers and every other amenity you can imagine. Whatever you need in hotels Long Beach should have an option to match and you will bring back fabulous memories.
